Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment, Jaime Haddad, met last Wednesday with representatives of the agricultural sector, to analyze the impact of frost last February in fruit production.
A meeting which was attended by professional agricultural organizations ASAJA, COAG and UPA and Cooperative Agro-food, all members of the General Commission of the State Agricultural Insurance Agency (ENESA). By the Administration, in addition to the Ministry, he participated the Consortium of Insurance Compensation under the Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness, as the body responsible for reinsurance of Spanish Agricultural Insurance System and control of the expert reports of casualties entity.
Haddad has served the sector’s exposure to damage on farms in the Region of Murcia, mostly in the municipality of Cieza, who have especially affecting stone fruit.
A commitment that is embodied in the policy of agricultural insurance, which has been allocated more than 211 million euros in 2016, of which more than 46 million is earmarked for subsidizing insurance policies fruit.
Specifically Murcia received 16 million last year 2015 to support the hiring of lines of crop and livestock insurance, of which 8 million was to subsidize the insurance line of fruit.
